The
Fifth Treasure
Send
this card to a friend or to say 'Thank You'.
The
quilt pictured on this card was named after the book entitled, Mieko
and the Fifth Treasure, written by Eleanor Coerr. The book tells
the story of Mieko, a young Japanese girl, whose life changes after
the bomb drops on Nagasaki, and how through love and friendship
she 'heals' herself and regains her talent and 'fifth treasure'
for painting Japanese word pictures. I wanted to convey, by the
use of these fabrics in green, blue and purple, a Japanese garden,
with lanterns. The traditional Courthouse Steps pattern was used,
in a pleated form.
